Chanthanburi in a nutshell

Chanthanburi isn’t on many travellers itineraries. It’s mainly visited by local Thai tourists and is relatively untapped by Westerners. We’ve just spent a week on the island of Koh Samet so rather than jumping straight to another beach resort we thought we’d spend a couple of days off the beaten track exploring Chanthanburi. Firstly, everything we read online was right. It was extremely local and [...]

Happy birthday to me

Today marks the start of the end of my twenties. I think my 28th birthday was probably spent renovating a house in preparation for us leaving 2 weeks later to begin this trip, so needless to say it isn’t a memorable one. Swimming with whale sharks!

Getting up this morning was painful. The alarm went off at 4:50am, a time I have not seen for a long time and hope not to be seeing again! Malapascua is famous for seeing large sea life such as the Whale Shark and Mantra Ray, where as Apo is the Turtle Capital. Honestly we wanted to go to Malapascua but the logistics of getting up there seemed very difficult with everything [...]

Bohol’s Chocolate hills

We were back on our bike today, this time exploring the island of Bohol. It’s a 2 hour ferry away from where we’re staying in Cebu so it’s a popular day trip destination. The initial plan was to join one of the £30 mini bus tours and see all the sites. But then we thought why not just hire a bike when we get there and do it ourself at less than half the price (any excuse to get another bike). Boho [...]
